I have a lot of music the I’ve transfered from CD and downloaded from itunes that I do not want to loose.

Answer:
if you have i tunes , lime wire, or frost wire, ect. move the program and all music onto an external hard drive, this way if you computer crashes the external hard drive will not be effected and you wont lose your music or have to re-sync your ipod
