Whether you want a waterproof camera for general photography, for occasional snorkeling or diving, or for more specialized applications such as fishing photography, you should know about the main camera options.

There are two main kinds of waterproof camera equipment. Most users will tend to get a compact underwater camera with a waterproof casing, for all uses and possibly also to take brief videos. More advanced users will prefer an SLR, or single lens reflex camera. These are not waterproof, but you can get a special waterproof housing.

A compact waterproof camera will cover most people’s needs, and will also easily fir into a pocket. Unless you are a serious hobbyist, and especially if you are looking to get a new camera, you are better off with one of these versatile all-in-one packages.

There are huge differences in normal photography technique and underwater photography, mostly due to the qualities of light in water. Diffraction, for one, means that you should get an underwater camera with a wide lens to compensate this phenomenon. Also, most of the pictures that you will take will be close-ups so a good macro function is a great thing to have.

Flashlights, whether in-built or external, are usually a mainstay of waterproof camera use due to the reduce lighting conditions under water. External flashlights are best if you can bear the bulk, but remember that you either need a special one for underwater use, or an additional waterproof housing.

If you don’t plan on taking an extra flashlight, try to use your waterproof camera in shallow waters when the sun is high, between eleven and two in the afternoon. This will allow you to make best use of natural light.

If you have powerful lighting equipment, you can also use your waterproof camera at night. You will be able to obtain some eerie shots and take pictures of fish not usually seen during the day.

The best places to take pictures of sea life with a waterproof camera is near shore, in shallow water and especially near steep rocky shores, coral reefs and atolls, and at the estuary of rivers. Sandy beaches, on the other hand, are watery deserts and harbor much less marine life.

When caring for your waterproof camera, you need to be aware of the special needs of your equipment. The danger number one is dirt, and especially salt, clogging the gaskets of the waterproof camera housing. Always clean your waterproof camera or housing with freshwater if you have been taking underwater pictures in the sea, and never let salt dry on the casing.

Carbonite, on the other hand, has no free version, but has unlimited backup capability for a low price.  According to one Carbonite backup review, it is extremely easy to see which files have been backed up.  When a file or folder is backed up with Carbonite, it gains a small dot next to the icon.  The program also puts a drive under My Computer, which is the place where all of a person’s files are backed up.

It is always good to have online photo backup, especially if a person has many irreplacable and memorable pictures on his or her computer.  Both the Mozy and Carbonite backup programs are great to have. Carbonite offers a 14 day free trial of their unlimited storage account, while Mozy has their completely free 2 G free account, their unlimited account has no free option.  Always look for reviews on both products before getting them, though, because one may have features that the other program does not.  Saving those important and irreplacable photos may help prevent a tragic loss of memories in case the computer crashes and loses data.

I’m getting ready for Earth Hour tonight, and i want to turn my computer off – powerpoint and all. But will it forget everything? all of my photos, documents, everything? I’m just abit paranoid…

just save your files before shutting down.. Hard drives can hold information without power, so all your files are safe.

i have an hp laptop and everytime i restart it it just freeezes and wont do anything. how can i just restore it? im broke, so thats not an option of paying someone. im on my moms computer right now. thanks everyone! these helped. fixed it. now i’ll know incase there’s ever a “next time”. i started to panic. i love my computer lol. ♥

Answer:
Some pc’s dont come with a cd for windows. For these you must turn off your pc, wait 15 seconds and turn on again. Place your finger on the F11 key and be ready. When the screen says to, you only have about 3 seconds to push the F11 key. Then just follow directions. This will do a total restore so you will need to save your photos and music first, if you can. This takes out all junk, even virus’s.
