How to Set up an Internal LAN
Setting up a local area connection (LAN) today is easier than ever before with plenty of low cost network solutions technology available.Furthermore, for internal LANS security devices and software are much more accessible and also less expensive.Whether you want to connect users internally within an organisation or at home, the following article will show you that setting up a LAN for intranet and internet access is easy.
1) Designate a computer within your LAN that is to be used as the server.Use a computer that is centrally located and that is unlikely to be moved since it will be the focal point of your internal local area network.Make sure you keep it in a safe, secure location.
2) Purchase and install a suitable router. The next step is to attach either a wireless or another type of router to your server.Run the software that comes with the router and follow the directions to link up the appropriate wires between your internet connection, the router and your server.
3) Make sure that you have a working internet connection. The next step is to check and set up the other computers to be connected to the LAN.If you are setting up a wired LAN, you need to run cables from each computer to the main router so take the location of each computer into account when you are purchasing the required cables.
4) Add a firewall to your server as well as the other computers to be set up on the internal LAN.Remember that some routers will already come with security features, including firewall protection. It is important that you use password protection in order to prevent outsiders from accessing your internal LAN.
5) Realise that some LANs include computers located around the world
If you are looking to set up a more substantial network, perhaps in an educational establishment or for a business LAN then the task is more than likely to be too much for one person to undertake. In such cases it is almost always the best case to utilise the services of a professional computer network solutions company.
Troubleshoot Your Wireless Internet Connection
Of all the network solutions available, wireless internet gives you the freedom to be online without the need for extensive cabling. However, wireless internet connections are also more vunerable to cyber attacks – particularly if it is inactive for long periods. If you are having trouble with your wireless network, the following list of network support pointers should help to set you right.
1) Power cycle the system by shutting it down and switching it back on after a minimum of 30 seconds.
2) Try checking the network settings to verify the IP address as well as other related information.
3) Determine whether your network card is working adequately.Try to identify the malfunctioning adapter by disabling the cards one by one.
4) Try moving one of the portable hosts (e.g a laptop) closer to the router. If you find that it ia working better then interference of low signal strength is the reason for the poor internet access.
5) Check the functioning of the wireless router as well as the access points.Adjust the antenna in order to get the optimum signal. Most wireless routers should come with omni-directional antennae to send signals in all directions – a situation appropriate for a square shaped network.
6) Try changing the location of the router and access point. They should ideally be placed centrally between all computers.
7) Examine the signal strength by using the monitoring utility that typically comes with the access point.
Check that all the devices are showing the correct lights. There is no universal standard to indicate wireless router functionality so ensure that you check the devices manuals to see which light indicates what function.
9) Use wireless internet utilities to check the SSIDs and channels neighbouring wireless networks are using.
10) Check that the correct drivers have been installed.
11) Check the configuration settings for encryption keys.
If you are still struggling then it can be a good idea to contact the manufacturer of your wireless router or a network supports solutions company.
Can’t get rid of Antivirus 2009….Help!!?
My computer is infected with antivirus 2009. I’ve tried everything, but nothing will work. And the internet is super slow and I downloaded malware bytes onto my comp but it won’t open up the installement. Can someone help? I renamed it and it started to install, thanks, but then it said unable to register the DLL/OCX:RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0×1
Answer:
You got the right program. You don’t need to go into safe mode or safe mode with networking. Just do this: Right-click on the installer > Go to ‘Properties’ > Rename it to ‘whatever.exe’ and double-click on it to run If you can’t load up too, then do this: Right click on the shortcut of Malwarebytes > go to ‘Properties’ > go to ‘Find Target’ > rename it, for instance ‘anne.exe’ and then double-click on it to run, not the shortcut (unless you rename it from within the shortcut itself, as well). Another method is to rename by exe extension to .bat, .com, .pif, or .scr and then double-click on it to run. For instance ‘mbam.bat’ and so on.
