Playing a Hunter class character in World of Warcraft PvP requires some of the skills of a real hunter. WoW Paladins are a schizophrenic bunch. On the one hand, they’re almost as good in hand-to-hand combat as Warriors. On the other hand, they can heal themselves and others like Priests do. This schizoid behavior carries over into World of Warcraft Paladin PvP combat, meaning that you really need to understand both sides of your character’s personality to dominate player versus player combat.

Given their two-sided personality, it’s no surprise that a Paladin can play a few different roles in player versus player. In duels, a Paladin’s ability to heal themselves can frustrate their opponents to no end. But the Paladin class has its shortcomings too. A Paladin’s mana supply is always limited, and once it is gone, so are many of this classes advantages. Even when their mana reserve is full, Paladins can have a terrible time drawing close enough to Hunters and Mages to even be able to hit them! Playing a Warrior class character in World of Warcraft PvP seems straightforward. Find the enemy, then pulverize him! But it isn’t really that simple at all. Let me explain.

Not surprisingly, Warriors excel at dealing massive amounts of physical damage to anything they get close to. What catches people by surprise is that good Warriors are more concerned about dealing with spellcasters than they are about losing a sword fight. The reason for this is simple. Only Paladins and other Warriors can survive in hand to hand combat with a skilled Warrior. But everything changes if their opponents have powerful magic on their side.

In truth, Warriors don’t get many opportunities to duel against other Warriors in the arena. Any decent PvP player knows that they stand little chance in close combat against a Warrior, so they don’t engage. Warriors often end up fighting spell casters and ranged fighters like Hunters. And that kind of combat definitely requires sound tactics, as well as a solid understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the opponent.

The biggest concern for a Warrior tends to be how to get into melee range of the opponent. The other classes know better than to get you get too close, and will be doing everything they can to stay out of your range. To close the gap on the cowards, you will need to understand and effectively use specialized skills like Charge at the start of battles and Intercept to close the gap while in battle. Once close, your Warrior will need to use other skills like Hamstring and Intimidating Shout to stop the worms from fleeing as you load up on rage and hit the opponent as hard as possible.
