Have You Tried Linear Tape Open (LTO)?
LTO (Linear Tape Open) is a data storage system that makes use of magnetic tape. Linear Tape Open has been used for over 50 years, yet it was only relatively recently, within the 1980s, that LTO began to become popular.
For super fast access, the the best form of Linear Tape Open is Accelis. This type provides fast access to data by employing a cartridge consisting of 2 reels. The tape itself measures just 8mm wide which aids speed and lowers the time it takes for data to be accessed. IBM were the initial creators of this.
The only real problem in relation to Linear Tape Open is to do with its leader pin. This holds the cartridge in the right place. When a cartridge is outside of a drive, the leader pin is kept in place through the use of a small spring. Whilst the cartridge is in use, the pin permits the reader to grasp on to the tape, meaning you can access your data.
The problem in this arises if the pin happens to fall out of place, which can occur if the cartridge has been damaged or dropped. This usually have the consequence of the cartridge being unable to load properly. Another reason why the cartridge may not load is the Linear Tape Open’s plastic casing becoming deformed, which means it can no longer securely hold the pin.
There have been some different alterations, indeed, there are some Linear Tape Open that do not use leader pins so as avoid this problem. Punching a hole through the casing is one solution, which enables the drive to connect with the tape without the need to use a leader pin.
Don’t let this one small issue cause you not to try Linear Tape Open. It could be for you, like it is for other people, an ideal form of data storage.

The 4 Best Ways to Improve the Speed of Your Computer
Let’s face it; anyone who owns a computer ends up becoming annoyed and frustrated at times, especially when the computer slows down to a snail’s pace. While this can sometimes be painfully obvious whenever you try to load a program, it can also mean that your computer takes forever to boot up.
Even though there are several reasons for a computer slowing down, a slow computer is something that millions of people around the world are faced with almost daily. The good news is however, even though there is no magical quick-fix solution, there are certain things you can do, which in many cases will help to speed up your machine.
#1. Reboot your computer
You’d be amazed at just how many people never bother rebooting their computers, considering that this in itself is one of the biggest culprits in terms of slowing down a computer. After all, so many people now use 24 hour Internet access, with their computers being a part of their daily life, but what they don’t realize is, all computers need to be rebooted frequently in order for them to function as they should.
You need to bear in mind that there are several programs which don’t shut down completely even when you close them. Furthermore, many software programs tend to have memory leakage, and over a period of time this can have an adverse effect on your computer’s available memory. Obviously, when your computer is short on available memory it inevitably begins slowing down until it reaches a snail’s pace. By rebooting your computer you’ll be allowing it to reset its memory and you’d be surprised how this alone can result in your computer speeding up.
#2. Memory upgrade
The amount of available memory has a direct impact on the speed of your computer. At the very least you should have 512 MB RAM, and that if you’re running one of the earlier versions of Microsoft Windows such as XP. On the other hand if you’re using the new Windows 7 operating platform then you’ll need at least 1GB of RAM. In fact, even though Windows Vista is an earlier system, it requires a whopping 1.5GB. Ideally you should have at least 2GB of available memory on your computer if you have a 64-bit system, or if you enjoy playing games.
#3. Defragmenting the hard drive
A fragmented hard drive is an inefficient hard drive. If you havent run your computers built-in defragmentation tool yet, you are probably losing out on a lot of speed that you could be enjoying. When your files are heavily fragmented, it takes your computer more energy to open those files, and subsequently other files, and it just clutters up your whole computing experience.
Bear in mind that Microsoft has included a defragmenting tool with all the operating systems for a very good reason, in that it should be used at least once every 30 days in order to ensure that your hard drive does not become overly fragmented. If you have not used in the tool for an extended period of time, you’ll notice to a substantial difference in speed once you do.
#4. Registry cleaners
The windows registry inevitably becomes full of clutter and this is why it is necessary to run a registry cleaner from time to time. In simple terms, the registry is virtually like the brains of a computer, and whenever you choose to install or uninstall a program, data is either added or removed respectively. Unfortunately however, very few programs uninstall as they should, and as a result pockets of data remain left behind. Because this data then has no use, it simply occupies available space, not to mention the fact that it can cause serious conflicts between different programs and different drivers. In fact, a cluttered registry can cause your computer to slow down to a snail’s pace. As a result, it is highly recommended that you use a registry cleaner frequently if you want your computer to continue operating at its best.
In the vast majority of cases the speed of a computer can be improved simply by applying the tips which have been mentioned above. Even though so many people experience their computer slowing down, that doesn’t mean it’s any easier to cope with, particularly if it gets to the stage where the computer will need to go in for repairs. Providing you put the above mentioned tips to use, you’ll at least be able to enjoy having an efficient computer rather than becoming frustrated with a sluggish machine.

Brought to you by inexpensive Dell laptop computers.
The Personal Computer these days is like a credit card. It is something that you cannot leave the home without. But since the PC is heavy, perhaps it is not a good idea to bring this with you everywhere you go. Yes you can try those palm pilots and Blackberry’s but its size makes it so hard to browse. The only thing to do then will be to get a unit from a Computer Loan.
To do that, you have to find a company that does rent out Personal Computers. You will have an easier time looking for them online rather than flipping through the phone book. Some companies which you can check are ICC, Rent a Computer and Laptop Rent. If it is not available where you are going, better get it before you head down to the airport.
The rate of borrowing a Computer from one vendor is different from another even if they charge customers on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Another factor that will determine the price is the kind of unit you are getting since there are various models in the market with different specifications.
If you get an Intel Pentium 4 which is very old, it will naturally be cheaper than a Intel Core Duo. The reason for this is power of the processor and a few other things if you decide to get a Computer with certain requirements.

You have to fill up a form first which usually takes a few minutes and then they will email you shortly regarding your request.
Aside from the Lending costs, you should also take note of certain things that goes with the contract. This includes data management fees, travel or pickup fees and overdue fines. If it is not written in the contract, you better ask because all PC Lease companies have it.
One you have the information from the different Rental companies, compare the rates. You might find that renting a Personal Computer daily from one is cheaper than the other but the penalties of the other company are much higher.
If you are able to return the Personal Computer on time, then you don’t have to worry about it. This is just like borrowing a book from the public library and to avoid paying any penalties, be sure to return it or try to ask for an extension.
It is only after you have made up your mind which Computer Loan company to get the unit from should you ever call them. This will enable you to ask questions and try to figure out what else is included in the Lease package. Do they offer maintenance service? Can you borrow other equipment and accessories?
Should you be satisfied with their answers, only then should you sign the contract and start using the rented unit.
Personal Computer Rentals are available all across the country and in some parts around the world. It just takes some time to look for one that can give you a good deal even if you are just using this for a short period of time.
