Finally an often overlooked part of the car are the brakes. This a part of the car that is used everyday, but is so easily overlooked. First thing they can do is do some tune ups.Tuning up your car will make it go smoother. Plus by doing things of a tune up it will help when you have to do a smog test. One of the biggest cause of failures in my San Diego smog check shop is the fact that people neglected their tune ups.Regular tune ups can greatly help in making a car pass a smog test.
Another thing I always suggest to my clients is that they should always check their brake. One of the most costly repairs people bring into my San Diego brake shop is fixing the brakes.Something as simple as breaks may cost a lot and burn a hole in the car owner’s pockets. If they have to replace the brake system it can be expensive. But by just doing simple steps like checking the barke fluid level will help in preventing this from happening. Also, make sure to check if there are any noise coming from the breaks.Detecting brake problems at an early stage will lessen the damage and the repair costs.
These few simple steps when done by car owners will save them a fortune in repairs.
What can information age do to a used car
Buying and selling used cars is a huge business. In a time when finances are tight for a lot of people it will grow bigger. More people may need to sell cars they can’t afford. While people that needs to buy a car will instead opt for a used car rather than a new one.Maintenance records are very important especially now in the information age.The main reason would be because used car records can be easily seen. Cars maintained better will get more money. That is why it is very important for you to maintain your cars well.
You have probably seen those carfax commercials where a prospective buyer is demanding to see a cars maintenance records. That isn’t so unbelievable. As more people learn of this service the would want to avail of it too.So if you have plans on selling your car then you better keep good records. Whenever I service any client at my San Diego auto repair shop I make sure they always get a record of their service. The number of clients that think that this is not important may surprise you.
It is so important. An example would be when you don’t want to buy a car that has not been maintained well because of stricter smog laws. I get cars in all the time while checking them at my San Diego smog check shop who fail because of improper maintenance. Cars that are get regular tuneups are usually the cars that can pass those smog tests. The cars that usually fail are the cars that are not ususally maintained.
It can also be applied to the brakes.By not taking good care of your brakes will lead to more complicated and more expensive problems. Just by doing regular maintenance for my clients at my San Diego brake shop I have been able to save them hundreds if not thousands on extra expenses. And with brakes it saves you with safety issues as well.

We all know that getting your car fixed or maintained can be very costly. If it is still new you wouldn’t have problems on spending a lot on maintenance and repairs. But as it ages it will need more attention and maintenance. So let’s look at how not to pay too much when you go to an auto shop.
In my San Diego auto repair shop I hear so many stories of people getting ripped off when they take their car to an auto shop.Things like paying for something way over its real price or getting billed for repairs the car doesn’t need happen all the time.So what could be done to avoid these things happening to you?Keeping your car maintained is the best that you can do to avoid expenses. Don’t wait till a problem happens.Keep it in a good condition.
Having regular tune-ups is one the best ways to keep your car in a very good shape. This will prevent any problems from coming up. It also keeps your engine running smoothly.Making your car undergo regular tune-ups will save a lot of money on repairs. Not properly tuning up your car can lead to many problems like not passing smog. I have seen older cars in my San Diego smog check shop that if they were taken care of they would have passed the smog test. This will lead to other problems.
Another thing that gets neglected when it comes to our cars are the brakes. The brakes are the part of the car that can surprise a lot of people. It surprises them when they see how high the bill is to repair. Believe me, I see the look on the faces of my customers of my San Diego brake shop when they see how expensive it can be.But if they had just taken care of their they could have avoided thoses expenses.
Taking care of your car to so as not to get ripped is the main point here.Having less problems if a car is regularly maintained is wrong for shops to say.
Interesting ways to save money in your car
Today a lot of Americans are searching for ways to spend less of their money. With the current state of the economy who can blame them. They find ways to get rid of extra expenses.Possibly they might start to not go out as much. Don’t buy things they don’t need. But what I would like to look at is a way that you probably haven’t thought too much about. That way you can find with your car.
When most people think of their cars and saving money it usually involves saving gas. They try to figure out ways to use less gas and spend less on gas. But I would like to suggest if you maintain your car you can save more. I know this for a fact running my San Diego auto repair company.
With cars in general a lot of people don’t even consider maintaining it. Unfortunately, when they do find themselves thinking about it, it is because it is too late. They wait for something to go wrong or break down. But from what I have witnessed doing this and waiting ends up making the auto repair expenses more costly.
As an example let look at your brakes. If you can keep your brakes properly maintained you can prevent expensive repairs. If you fail to, you are going to have disc brakes that will be expensive to repair.Or you might find the need to have the brake shoes replaced.By using your brakes properly and then maintaining them you will save yourself some money. So take it in to a brake shop like my San Diego brake shop and you can find out if you need to do anything.Things like the brake fluid and checking it to make sure it has enough.
Or a lot of people won’t take their cars for tuneups. They let the engine go.They do not do an oil change as frequently as they should. This ends up making your cars engine to start running badly. So poorly that it isn’t going to pass a smog check. From what I have seen running a smog test San Diego shop, if you fail a smog test, this can lead to expensive repairs just to get it to pass.
But if you do the proper maintenance you will keep your car running well. The engine will run smoother and properly.Wait longer then you should and you will end up spending a lot more money then expected.
Hopefully this gave you some good ideas that maintaining your car can actually save money. Spend a little now to save more in the future.

How to save more money in a used car
Well the time of irrational exuberance is now long gone. For a lot of Americans excessive items like a new car is a thing of the past. Now in these times when a family is in need of a new car they have to look into a used car. This is clear by all of the money troubles the big three auto makers are having. There sales have gone way down.
But families will still be needing a form of transportation. But when families are on a tight budget they have to go with a cheaper choice. That alternative is used cars.
As a San Diego auto repair shop owner I am asked to inspect some of these used cars.Because when you are making a purchase of a used car, the last thing you want is a lemon. So by taking the time to perform a good inspection, you may avoid costly repairs.
So when inspecting these used cars here are a couple of big things to look for.First you will want to inspect the brakes. We do San Diego brakes in our shop.So I have seen firsthand that needing your brakes repaired is an expensive option. If you buy a used car where the brakes were not taken care of by the previous owner it can become expensive. Last thing you want is to have to replace the entire braking system. So be sure you have good brakes.
Second, you want to ensure that the car is running clean.Said another way, will it be able to pass a smog check. In my business I do smog test in San Diego. The last thing you are going to want is the purchase of a used car that needs some expensive repairs. Especially if those repairs involve emission problems.
If you purchase a car that can’t pass a smog test that isn’t good. It is a sign that the car wasn’t taken care of.What probably happened is they didn’t do any tuneups or oil changes. These could be the start of a lot more problems in the future.
If you just check out these few items you can save money. By not checking you can be in for some major repairs. When you are trying to save money I am sure you don’t want that.
The Need to Maintain Your Brakes
One of the things taken for granted in this world is driving a car.It has become almost like a routine and a mindless activity for some people. You see people doing all kinds of things like doing makeup, reading, or talking on the phone, etc. while driving.
But if you really thought about it, your life is on the line everytime you drive a car.Whether it is your fault or someone else’s, accidents happen.
One of the causes of accidents, although rare, is brake failure.Your brakes is definitely one of the parts of your vehicle that is very important. Unfortunately, out of sight is out of mind. I have seen this firsthand with my San Diego brakes shop.
Your brakes is most definitely not in sight. But it is one part of your car that you need to keep regular maintenance on. Whether you do it yourself, or hire a San Diego auto repair shop, you have to maintain it.After all, the safety of your life and maybe your family’s life could depend on it.
With that being the case, brake maintenance is relatively easy. You can either go to a brake repair shop or you can learn how to do it yourself.
Either way, the two main things you need to look at are the brake fluid level and the brake pad condition. If you are diligent in maintaining these two points, you will keep your brakes safe.
When you go to check the brake fluid level, all you are going to have to do is check the fluid reservoir level. It is usually marked and has a ‘min’ line and a ‘max’ line.Make sure that the fluids are not below the ‘min’ line and you will not have any problems.
Also be sure that you see that the brake fluid is yellow in color and clear. If it is not, you will have to flush the brakes and replace it with new fluid.
Brake fluids maintenance are the easy part. The hard part of this will be the brake pads. For this, more often than not you will need a brakes repair company like my San Diego brake shop.
Usually the brake pads tell you they need to be replaced when you hear some screeching sounds when you are braking.
If so, get them checked and if need be, replaced as soon as you can. Brake pads that are worn is hard to control or stop.
With your safety and your passenger’s safety directly effected, this is a no brainer. Get it checked and if need be, get your brakes fixed.
Following these 2 maintenance steps will keep your car safe for every driving occasion.
Safety First with Brakes
There are parts to your car that you need to keep aware of. In this age of automated everything on cars, a common thing to happen is the maintenance of the car gets neglected. Believe me I have seen it all owning a San Diego auto repair shop.
After all cars that were considered economic cars like Hyundai’s, are now state of the art machines, it’s not that hard to think nothing goes wrong.
That is a big mistake. There are still going to be parts of your car that need to be paid attention to and maintained. Most people take care of oil changes and things like that. Although that is important for the life of your car, what most people neglect is their brakes. Which is important to the life of themselves and their family.
So let’s find out how to know when it is time to change your brakes when they have become unsafe.
The first symptom is when there is grinding or scratching you need to replace your brakes. Usually this is a sign of the metal plates being gone that are supposed to hold the brake pads and now it rubs against the rotor. This is a bad sign and you have to go and replace your brakes immediately.
Second symptom is when your brakes make a loud screeching or a high pitch noise. A condition called glazed is what causes this. This occurs when someone always brakes too much and casues the rotors to heat up. The rotors are then burned.
You fix this by going to a brake shop like my San Diego brake shop.
A third condition that happens to your brakes is vibrations. When your rotors or drums are warped, when you are braking this will cause a vibration. This occurs because of excessive heat and this makes them lose shape. When this happens, your rotor needs to be replaced.
A final issue to examine is when your brakes are pullling. What occurs when you are braking is your vehicle want to pull in one direction. This occurs when the brake calipers are not being applied evenly. This happens due to a fluid leak. To find out which side is leaking, you are going to need a mechanic to take a look at it. You take care of this by having the caliper replaced and getting all the air out of the brakes.
These are the common problems with brakes. When this does happen you need a shop that fixes brakes like we fix San Diego brakes.
When you take into account it’s your brakes which keep you from accidents, maintaining this part of your car you don’t want to neglect.
