Click tools, click internet options (at the bottom), click the settings button for tabs (should be next a tab looking graphic in a section labeled tags and under the section with a magnifying glass) click on the drop down list under “When a new tab is opened, open:” and choose either “a blank page” or “your first home page” from the list.
