Can Pirated MS Software Slow Your Computer Down?

I recently purchased a computer, used, and it runs very slowly. I thought it was because it didn’t have enough RAM in it, but now I’m getting a message everytime I turn on my computer that the software is counterfeit. I bought the computer because I couldn’t afford a new one, and now I’ve found out it will cost me about $200.00 to legitimize this software and I need more RAM etc. This just keeps getting worse and worse. Someone please help me. One more thing. I’ve tried contacting the previous owner, but it was a university student who was going back home for the summer. The number isn’t in service. Sorry, I forgot to add that it ran very well when I first got it.

Answer:
Probably. The pirated software will set off MS’s anti-piracy alarms, and may also contain viruses and other nasty stuff. I recommend you either buy a legal copy, or use a free alternative program, such as OpenOffice. ( www.openoffice.org ) Buying RAM is easy. Go to http://www.crucial.com/store/drammemory.aspx OR http://www.kingston.com/ to find out what kind of ram you need. I recommend that you buy it from NewEgg.com – they have good prices!
